Both my husband and I are in our twenties. We have an extremely satisfying and exciting monogamous sexual life together.
Recently, some of us, including myself, have discussed the topic of pornographic videos (or what could be called "visual pornographic literature" or "pornographic visual art") and expressed our opinions.
The purpose of this article is to share our views and overall experience regarding visual pornographic works with other couples, in the hope of initiating productive and profound discussions.
Both my husband and I used to watch pornographic videos together. We still do so now, but only occasionally. We haven't found that watching such videos causes any problems for us, and we have also discussed whether having such an experience together occasionally is harmful or dangerous.
As I said, we would occasionally watch pornographic films together. But sometimes, when he wasn't around, I would watch pornographic films for my own pleasure. The scene was very exciting, and it made both of us extremely aroused. This was a form of role-playing for us; I played a sexy and alluring housewife, using pornographic films to masturbate when my husband wasn't at home. It was truly very thrilling.
On several occasions when he went out of town, I sent him some videos of me playing alone in bed, while watching the sexy videos on TV. I enjoyed being his naughty yet devoted wife.
Our view is that for married couples, as long as we adhere to the monogamous system, there are no strict restrictions on sexual activities. This includes sexual positions, sex toys, the language used, sexual fantasies, as well as both textual and visual pornographic content.
Based on this belief, we believe that it is not inappropriate for couples to watch visual pornographic films that contain various sexual acts (such as group sex, multiple partners, or lesbian sex). Both my husband and I enjoy such visual pornographic films, and of course I would not judge the viewing methods of other couples.
Now that we have shared our viewpoints and experiences, I would like to hear the opinions of other couples. Do you share the same views as us? Have you and your spouses watched pornographic visual content together? Do you have different boundaries when it comes to pornographic materials in general?
I think the key part of discussing this issue is to first define our terms, and then make the decision ourselves about where the boundaries lie.
Here are some of the issues that I consider to be important:
Are there any meaningful differences among the terms such as "pornography", "pornographic video", "visual pornography", "audio-visual pornography", or "pornographic visual art"?
Is it okay to watch pornographic films together with your spouse?
Can pornographic visual content be watched together with your spouse?
Is it okay to watch simulated nude sexual acts (such as late-night pornographic films)?
Is it okay to watch "Three Men and a Woman", "Multiple Partners" or lesbian sex scenes together with your partner?
