If you read The Times, Jezebel, The Daily Mail or any of the hundreds of other news websites this week, you will undoubtedly have seen reports of a Spanish survey that found that middle-class and wealthy women enjoy safer and more satisfying sex lives than women who are less well-off around the world.
There are many reasons for this situation; economic stability enables her to explore more self-fulfillment through sex in a more independent way, and this independence also helps her leave or avoid abusive relationships more quickly.
Things that money can't buy
This is consistent with our findings in the LELO Global Sex Survey. Since its launch in early January, over 12,000 men and women have participated. The survey results show that the differences in sexual life among different socio-economic classes are very similar to those in the Spanish survey, but our data seem to reveal some overlooked factors: middle-class women enjoy a satisfying sex life, while the sexual life satisfaction of wealthy women (with an annual income of $160,000 or more) is the lowest.
The more money one has, the more problems one encounters?
So, why are so many wealthy women (according to our data, nearly 70%) so dissatisfied? Although we cannot provide a specific answer, this might stem from the pressure of earning and maintaining such high salaries, or from the rewards of a job that is so lucrative.
This might also be attributed to the excessive pursuit mentality of those who have achieved such success; they might actually be as content as their middle-class counterparts, but perhaps they just don't express this satisfaction, thus continuing to pursue more.
purchasing behavior
We have extracted more data from the global survey conducted by LELO to further explain the reasons behind the sexual dissatisfaction among the super-rich.
There is not much difference in the number of sex toys owned by middle-class and affluent women. However, the purchasing methods of different groups reflect their respective pursuits of sexual pleasure. Middle-class women purchase an average of 1.5 sex toys per year, buying only one item each time; while affluent respondents claim to purchase an average of 6 sex toys per year, buying four or more items each time.
This leads us to a (purely speculative) conclusion: The rich may have too many choices; yes, you might be able to buy all the sex toys in the world, but can you really spend time enjoying all of them? We think it's impossible.
Therefore, in terms of sex toys and sexual satisfaction, the wealthy may have more options.
I feel like I've made a million dollars - or at least fifty thousand dollars!
However, for wealthy women, this is not all bad news; according to a study conducted by the University of Warwick and Dartmouth College, simply increasing the frequency of sexual activity from once a month to once a week can have an impact on happiness equivalent to injecting $50,000 into your bank account!
